Big News!

Good morning!

I have big news to report from the non-Etsy world! I got a real-life, big girl job as a design engineer! : ) That means that in the next couple of weeks, I'll be apartment-hunting, moving, starting my new job, and getting settled in (probably) central Connecticut. I'm super excited to have a job that uses my college degree, to move out of my parents house for hopefully the last time, and to be able to have an apartment all to myself to decorate however I want. I do secretly want it to look exactly like my last apartment though... That place was really perfect.

In the meantime, I'll keep updating my shop until I go. I finished my first custom order and it came out SO adorable! I'm tempted to make it a regular piece in my shop. It's for my friend Allison, and I called it the Dewbird Necklace, because she called me Dewbird a lot. :' ) Here it is:

I also have my first super big ring in the shop, The Ostentatious Ring in Walnut and Olive. I have this ring in walnut and bright yellow, and I LOVE it! It's so bold and fun!

And finally, I have another create-your-own type listing, for the One Love Ring in White. I thought it would be an easier way to custom order this ring with your choice of heart color and adjustable band. I really love all the color choices!

Thanks for reading and checking out my goods! : )

It's Not a Circle...?

Hellooo.

I added my newest, most favoritest piece to the shop today!

I think I love it so much because: 1. It's a great combination of colors, and 2. It's not a circle! I'm trying to make less circular things without getting a jigsaw involved, and it's tricky. I found that illustration board is a good alternative to wood though. It's still tricky to shape, but it's a lot easier than wood because I can use my trusty X-acto knife. I wouldn't be able to function without that thing.

So I mentioned in my last post that I'm working on a custom order for a friend. I've since restarted that custom piece because... well... I'm a very impatient resiner. I like to use a lot of resin at once to speed up the process, and sometimes it ends up spilling all over the edges of whatever it is that I'm resining. Bad news, big time. Of my last batch of three things, the brooch above was the only thing that made it out alive. I'm hoping I'll learn my lesson eventually...

In other, non-Etsy news, I invested in a killer black blazer (suit jacket, not giant SUV) the other day. It fits like a freakin' dream and I can dress it up or down, so I'll be getting a lot of mileage out of it. I wore it to an interview for a job that I'm fairly decently under-qualified for on Tuesday and I felt like I owned the place. Or something powerful-feeling like that. And I think it paid off, because they seemed to like me! (Let's hope they liked me enough to offer me a job, right?)

Enjoy your Thursday, and the new moon tonight! (Not a Twilight reference, there's an actual new moon tonight...)

Next On The Agenda...

Well, next on the agenda is to find a "real" job, but until I can make that happen, I'm rollin' out new products! I've been working on hair pins, because... I love hair pins. I wear them every day and I lose roughly 1-5 a week. These ones don't blend into the carpet though! They're super pretty. Here's my first pair: (Isn't it exciting getting to preview everything before it goes up for sale in the shop?)
These ones are my favorites. Most of the images that I use in my pieces come from design magazine advertisements. There are about 20 of them for every story in a design magazine, so... lucky me.

It's a good day to stay inside and make masterpieces. It's crazy windy out there and it looks like the sky might open up at any second. I hope it does - it's still hot out!

Enjoy your last (already!) day of September, dears!

New Things!

Morning!

I added a bunch of new clay things to the shop this week! Take a look and let me know what you think! www.deweychristina.etsy.com

I'm also working on a custom One Love Pendant listing, so you can build your own pendant. (Well, you choose the color, I build it for you...) Here's a color preview. You're seeing it first!

I hope this will give me a chance to find out what colors people are in to so I don't keep making things that don't sell... I love making jewelry, but ultimately, I want to sell it. I need to pay my car insurance, folks!

I worked with a wonderful new customer over the weekend helping her to pick out colors for her One Love Necklace, and I shipped it off to Canada yesterday. I can't wait for her to get it! And I'm working on a custom pendant for a friend that may turn into a regular shop item if she's ok with that... : )

In other news, I'm having one of those days where everything smells awful. My house, my cat, my coffee, it all smells like wet dog. And I don't own a dog! This happens to me every so often. Sometimes it's a good smell though, like orange-scented cleaner or oatmeal cookies. In an attempt to surround myself in a good smell today, I covered myself in sunblock. I LOVE the smell of sunblock, because it's synonymous with summertime and the beach. And speaking of summertime, this has been one of the warmest Septembers I can remember. Maybe it will stay warm through the winter...? (hopehopehope)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Some Random Thoughts

Today I went to a driving range with my boyfriend to hit some golf balls. Once he taught me what the hell I was doing, I was pretty good. I think I could be good at golf if I had some sweet saddle shoes and any patience. I saw a picture of Ellen DeGeneres wearing saddle shoes on her talk show, and now I want some, preferably tan and navy blue. I never would have imagined myself saying that when I was seven years old. Saddle shoes were forced upon me for years.

As I was driving home today, I suddenly started craving kielbasa and grilled green apples in a maple vinaigrette. I've never had it, and I'm not sure it's an actual dish, but it sounds delicious.

I also remembered a random childhood moment, where my brother and I were standing in front of the toilet laughing hysterically as we flushed the male members of my dollhouse family, one by one. My mom heard the multiple flushes combined with the giggles and stopped us before we sacrificed Grandpa though.

The end.

Bright Pink Earrings and Sad Lonely Cheese

So... I think I've found my new favorite things to make:
These earrings came out better than I expected, and the photos show the detail really well. I was almost tempted to just keep this pair... I don't do bright pink very often, but I'd do these! I'm going to make some more in different color combinations because I freakin' love them.

Also, I've been poking around on Etsy looking for Christmas gifts already. I'm going to have to give this to someone, but I don't know who yet.
Oh man... It's just too funny. Such sad, adorable cheese.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

New Ring Collection!

Goooood morning!

I'm in the midst of a new ring collection. The first couple are up on Etsy, so take a looksies!

The Protons and Electrons Ring came to me as a vision as I was falling asleep, complete with colorway and clay sizes. That's right, folks, I'm having visions now. Look the eff out! ; )

In non-Etsy news, you should all have a listen to Paula Fuga. She's a Hawaiian singer who opened for Jack Johnson on his To The Sea tour and she's diviiine. She has such a beautiful voice, and I highly recommend the song "Country Road", which is a duet with Jack. It's my favorite song of the moment!

And now I'm off to ship a ring to Australia! Happy Tuesday!
