Next On The Agenda...

Well, next on the agenda is to find a "real" job, but until I can make that happen, I'm rollin' out new products! I've been working on hair pins, because... I love hair pins. I wear them every day and I lose roughly 1-5 a week. These ones don't blend into the carpet though! They're super pretty. Here's my first pair: (Isn't it exciting getting to preview everything before it goes up for sale in the shop?)
These ones are my favorites. Most of the images that I use in my pieces come from design magazine advertisements. There are about 20 of them for every story in a design magazine, so... lucky me.

It's a good day to stay inside and make masterpieces. It's crazy windy out there and it looks like the sky might open up at any second. I hope it does - it's still hot out!

Enjoy your last (already!) day of September, dears!

New Things!

Morning!

I added a bunch of new clay things to the shop this week! Take a look and let me know what you think! www.deweychristina.etsy.com

I'm also working on a custom One Love Pendant listing, so you can build your own pendant. (Well, you choose the color, I build it for you...) Here's a color preview. You're seeing it first!

I hope this will give me a chance to find out what colors people are in to so I don't keep making things that don't sell... I love making jewelry, but ultimately, I want to sell it. I need to pay my car insurance, folks!

I worked with a wonderful new customer over the weekend helping her to pick out colors for her One Love Necklace, and I shipped it off to Canada yesterday. I can't wait for her to get it! And I'm working on a custom pendant for a friend that may turn into a regular shop item if she's ok with that... : )

In other news, I'm having one of those days where everything smells awful. My house, my cat, my coffee, it all smells like wet dog. And I don't own a dog! This happens to me every so often. Sometimes it's a good smell though, like orange-scented cleaner or oatmeal cookies. In an attempt to surround myself in a good smell today, I covered myself in sunblock. I LOVE the smell of sunblock, because it's synonymous with summertime and the beach. And speaking of summertime, this has been one of the warmest Septembers I can remember. Maybe it will stay warm through the winter...? (hopehopehope)

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Some Random Thoughts

Today I went to a driving range with my boyfriend to hit some golf balls. Once he taught me what the hell I was doing, I was pretty good. I think I could be good at golf if I had some sweet saddle shoes and any patience. I saw a picture of Ellen DeGeneres wearing saddle shoes on her talk show, and now I want some, preferably tan and navy blue. I never would have imagined myself saying that when I was seven years old. Saddle shoes were forced upon me for years.

As I was driving home today, I suddenly started craving kielbasa and grilled green apples in a maple vinaigrette. I've never had it, and I'm not sure it's an actual dish, but it sounds delicious.

I also remembered a random childhood moment, where my brother and I were standing in front of the toilet laughing hysterically as we flushed the male members of my dollhouse family, one by one. My mom heard the multiple flushes combined with the giggles and stopped us before we sacrificed Grandpa though.

The end.

Bright Pink Earrings and Sad Lonely Cheese

So... I think I've found my new favorite things to make:
These earrings came out better than I expected, and the photos show the detail really well. I was almost tempted to just keep this pair... I don't do bright pink very often, but I'd do these! I'm going to make some more in different color combinations because I freakin' love them.

Also, I've been poking around on Etsy looking for Christmas gifts already. I'm going to have to give this to someone, but I don't know who yet.
Oh man... It's just too funny. Such sad, adorable cheese.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

New Ring Collection!

Goooood morning!

I'm in the midst of a new ring collection. The first couple are up on Etsy, so take a looksies!

The Protons and Electrons Ring came to me as a vision as I was falling asleep, complete with colorway and clay sizes. That's right, folks, I'm having visions now. Look the eff out! ; )

In non-Etsy news, you should all have a listen to Paula Fuga. She's a Hawaiian singer who opened for Jack Johnson on his To The Sea tour and she's diviiine. She has such a beautiful voice, and I highly recommend the song "Country Road", which is a duet with Jack. It's my favorite song of the moment!

And now I'm off to ship a ring to Australia! Happy Tuesday!

It's Really September

Hey, peeps! I hope everyone had a happy Labor Day weekend!

So I last wrote about how excited I was for NYC, right? Well... I learned a very important lesson this weekend and I'd like to share it with you: Never ever ever go to New York City during a holiday weekend. Shit. I couldn't believe the sheer volume of people there. I knew it would be busy, but good God, it was stifling. We went to the Empire State Building and then got lunch and called it a day. The best part of the weekend was getting Taco Bell for dinner that night and eating in bed while we watched Swamp People on the History Channel.

In Etsy news, I've added some new things to the shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeweyChristina, including this autumny ring:
And two super adorable brooches:

Let me know what you think of them!

Waiting on a Hurricane...

I'm pretty sure this hurricane is going to end up being nothing more than a windy rain shower. As long as I see some lawn ornaments or small woodland creatures flying, I'll be happy... hehehe.

Anyway, I'm pretty pumped about the weekend, because I'm going to New York City on Sunday! It was a birthday promise from the boyfriend back in January (when it's too cold to have fun), so he's making good on it. I planned out what I think will be the best trip ever, including stops at the top of the Empire State Building (which I keep calling the Eiffel Tower by accident), Central Park, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, maybe the Guggenheim (Eugooglyheim), and Magnolia Bakery for a German chocolate cupcake with caramel pecan coconut icing. Todd might have fun too, but I made sure this trip is really just for me. We wanted to go to Nat Sherman's to enjoy a fine cigar in their three-floor walk-in humidor, but they're not open on Sundays! Maybe we'll have to go back another day...

Also this weekend I'll have some new things listed in ye olde Etsy shoppe. http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeweyChristina I just listed version 2.0 of some earrings that sold out.

The photos came out pretty good I think, in spite of the clouds. It's kind of cool to see how my photos and even products have evolved since I first opened shop. Everything's getting more refined. Initially, my pieces were all over the place, but I think I've developed a more cohesive style since then. Hopefully I'm not the only one who thinks that...

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and enjoy your time off from work.

I Heart Collaging!

Happy hot Wednesday! The high today is 99... oi. Hopefully this heat will help my resin dry faster. I'm working on a new batch of brooches and earrings, and they're coming out SO good! I've been doing more collage work lately and it's really therapeutic. I used to cut pictures out of magazines (and textbooks...) and reassemble them into collages all the time when I was little. They make for quirky, unique art pieces.

Here's my first sellable brooch, which is already in my Etsy shop, http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeweyChristina
The layered paper gives it an interesting texture underneath the resin.

Brooches are definitely making a comeback, and it's a good thing too - you can pin that shit on anything. It's an easy way to perk up an outfit and it won't get in your way. I should have more collage pieces in my shop by this coming weekend, so make sure to check back there in a few days!

Enjoy your first day of September!
