Round House Jewelry on Etsy

Let's not waste any time today. Here's one of my new favorite Etsy artists, Round House Jewelry http://www.etsy.com/shop/roundhousejewelry. She uses mostly leather and precious metal clay, but she combines them in simple, beautiful ways to create really unique pieces. Here are some of my favorites (though it's hard to choose!)

Really everything in her shop is to die for. She also sells her jewelry in a bunch of independent boutiques:
The Niblic - Chebeague Island, ME
Kennebec River Artisans - Hallowell, ME
Artitudes - West Newton, MA (Beware: This shop is closed until after Labor Day. Your 45-minute trek there will be fruitless until then...)
Twigs - East Falmouth, MA
Gigi & Me - Osterville, MA

Have a fantastic Tuesday!

Friday!

Happy Friday!

So, I have a bit of an update to yesterday's post. I wasn't able to find anything about the Eva Zeisel sugar bowl featured on Etsy. However, I did find out that Crate & Barrel carries a reproduction line of Zeisel's Century dinnerware (originally produced in 1952), including *drumroll* the Century sauce boat that I mentioned yesterday that I love.
I'll be saving up my Washingtons for this puppy, for sure.

I also want to share one of my favorite Etsy sellers with you: BonniesKnitting http://www.etsy.com/shop/bonniesknitting She makes ridiculously amazing hats, and I'm also saving up my farthings for one of her cloches.
I have no idea how she makes these, and I think that's actually part of the appeal. I could never make this myself, so I'll just have to buy it from her. The woman's got talent. Period.

Anywho, have a wonderful weekend! : )

A-say whaaat?!

Is this really an authentic Eva Zeisel piece (on Etsy?)? I've never seen her work in anything but pure white, and it looks more substantial and less delicate than her other work.

I'm going to have to investigate this. If it's real, then it's a bargain and a half.

This is possibly my favorite Eva Zeisel piece. I saw it in person at the NY MoMA. It was shinier up close.
Here's a good site about Eva: http://www.evazeisel.org/who_is_eva_zeisel.html She's one of the few female designers of the 20th century that people have heard of. She made it!

Happy Thursday (the sun is finally out!)

Tick tock...

Hey there! We're on day four of windy rain here near Boston... It's getting old, though it makes me feel less guilty about staying inside and being semi-lazy.

I wanted to share this clock with you that I found on Etsy, made by seller CyberMoon.

I just thought it was clever. It's interesting how just flip-flopping all the numbers throws you off. He has a few different clocks that alter the established visual language of time, and I think it's a cool idea. Check out his Etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CyberMoon

Have a happy Wednesday!

Rain rain rain...

Good morning! It's pouring here near Boston... super yucky. It's one of those bad hair days no matter what you do. You know who's NOT having a bad hair day though? This lady. It's Stephanie Szostak from "Dinner For Schmucks" and she pretty much has the best haircut ever. It's super short in the back with longer curlies on the sides and I kind of want it...
Have a wonderful day!

Hey there!

Welcome!

Since this is my first posting, let me introduce myself. I'm Christina Dewey and I'm a freelance designer and jewelry-maker. I have my own little shop on Etsy, here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/DeweyChristina and you should definitely go browse a bit! (Warning: I'm going to be marketing myself ad nauseum, so please just patronize me). I like making jewelry because I've found that stores and boutiques seem to cater to a generic, suburban kind of style. I like things that are a bit different and unusual, and a lot of my jewelry is one-of-a-kind because I use found images and I can't remix a particular color of paint to save my life.

In addition to my job(s), I like crocheting rectangular-shaped things, going to the beach to get that salty dry feeling in my skin, making sarcastic remarks like I know what I'm talking about, hula hooping while reading a good book, and arguing with my boyfriend about how moose travel long distances (I say they sneak through suburban backyards in the dead of night; he claims they take the interstate).

Anywho, I hope to use this blog to share super fun things that I find and the occasional rambling rant about how great things would be if I ran the world.

Thanks for reading, and if you stick with me, maybe we can be friends! : )
